MISSION REPORT

We had a very nice report from RosaLinda about her mission trip to Mexico with a Cedarville MIS Team. Praise the Lord for the fruits of her trip. It sounds like it was a very successful trip with several professions of faith and a couple baptisms. I learned something new about RosaLinda. How many of you knew she sings and plays the keyboard? We have talent in our midst! There was one serious mishap when a student (Dan) had a spinal injury and is currently hospitalized in Chicago. You can follow his progress as we pray for him at his blog

RosaLinda also passed on a few photos of her experiences. At the right are some new friends and below is the baptism service.

The missionaries reported some fantastic ongoing results after the team returned to Cedarville:

  • In addition to our weekly after-school bible study, the high school guys have expressed interest in a bi-weekly morning meeting to pray and praise God together.yes, it was actually their idea to get to school at 7:30 for this!!!
  • We had a day of prayer chapel the Wednesday following camp, where parents were invited to attend and we spent some extra time praying together (much like Cedarville's Day of Prayer chapel). A lot of the parents were blown away by our students' response to our time of worship (looked just like it did at camp)
  • The Spirit is continuing to stir the hearts of our kids.and the kids are seeking ways to continue this life of worship that they started at camp. Our kids just can't get enough of the word of God and time of praise and worship. I love to watch our students lift their hands in worship.
  • Pray for Sonia (an 8th grader who fainted when Dan got hurt). She missed a day at school with related problems and had another (smaller) attack one day at school. Dan's accident has left many of our students with questions and a strong desire to talk and pray. They are burdened for him and also are praying through their questions of where God is in all of this.
  • Pray that our students would use camp as a "stepping stone" and not a "mountain top experience." Many of our kids struggle with leaving camp and going back home to the daily routines. They feel a sense of being let down after an incredible week of spiritual growth. Pray that they can take the learning they experienced and apply it in their daily walks.

PRAYER ITEMS
  • Burkards asked us to continue to pray for their friend, Norm – he has cancer which seems to be getting worse. He has an appointment with his Oncologist on the 21st.
  • Pulcifers asked for prayer for the 2 year old niece of a friend of theirs who has been having seizures. Pray for healing after the doctors have done surgery.
  • Tony gave a fantastic report that Betty had a PET scan last Thursday and the doctor excitably reported that some areas are significantly reduced and others are gone. She does still have a lot of fluid, so continue to pray for her at this time.
  • Dan, the Cedarville student who had the spinal injury during the Mexico MIS trip, is paralyzed but there is hope that this will improve after surgery on Tuesday. Pray for his improvement and for the doctors as they work with him (see the Blog link above).
  • Diana’s son-in-law has torn bicep muscles. This is probably not a good thing for an ER doctor, so pray for his healing.
  • Jerry’s arm/shoulder is doing much better after surgery and therapy. However, he is now having back spasms from the therapy.
  • Nancy continues to improve after her knee replacement. This has been very noticeable in just the last few days with her being able to discontinue most pain medications. She will have the staples removed this Tuesday. UPDATE: Nancy had the staples removed today (Tuesday) and saw the doctor. He said she is doing so well that she does not require in-office therapy and she does not need to return for another four weeks!
  • Larry Smith will have knee replacement surgery next week. He plans to be here for our missions conference (and class dinner) one month later.
  • Jerry reminded us to continue to pray for his niece after the loss of her father and her partner of 20 years. Both passed away within a very short period of time. She is also dealing with her mother who has problems.
  • Georgia had a job interview which went well enough to be invited back for a second interview this Tuesday.
  • Continue to remember all of our missionaries in the Middle East. Some have reported feeling the real presence of Satan!
  • Esther sent an email from Mongolia requesting prayer for them to find a suitable place for their ministry after returning from their very short furlough to Dayton.
  • Continue to pray for our men and women serving in the Middle East.

CLASS NOTES

Today Dennis began our new discussion about “End-of-Life” Christian Ethics. The Bible reference today is 1 Cor. 15:51-56. The question for discussion was “How do you want to die!” I think the best answer was to go in the Rapture. But, we also had a lot of good comments about how parents and loved ones have handled this event. Dennis continued by mentioning that we are slowly (more quickly than most of us want) aging/dying as is evidenced in our loss of memory, parts replacements, etc. Ruth Johnson impressed me with her technical knowledge when she made the comment about our “disk drives”. If you don’t know what this is about, you either missed the class or your memory is going (as discussed)!

THINGS TO REMEMBER (if you can)

Next Sunday evening is Celebrate SS. This will be a good opportunity to recruit new members who attend the church services but do not attend any ABF. We will have a booth showing others what our class is all about. Those of you who volunteered to bring cookies - please don’t forget. We’ll tease you if you do forget!

Remember our dinner date with missionaries (and Ambassador Class members) Larry and Bev Smith on April 28. The Darkows have offered their home for this event. We will also include the rest of the mission work team for dinner since our class members were a significant part of the team. We will have food sign-up sheets available later.

BIRTHDAYS

  • Linda Thomas - March 15 (I know it was last week, but she is not here!)
  • Barb Arnold - March 23
