Ambassadors ABF Notes for May 20th

Naiya Symone Simpson

This Sunday was a little different for us; two weeks in a row, now. Dennis is still under the weather with a chest cold or something giving him pain. Please pray for him. Last Sunday we were fortunate to have Larry Smith give us an update taking most of our class time. This week, we spent the majority of the time doing prayer requests and praying. I think these times are especially good and they are pleasing to our Lord. I know I personally get more out of a prayer time like this. Anyway, instead of our normal dog on pony show with myself, John, and Roger Brandt plus Dennis before you, everyone was stuck with the dog, ME!

Visitor
We had a long distance visitor with us this Sunday. His name is Charles. He is an ESOL Student of Barb Sullivan’s and comes all the way from North Central China. Be sure to greet him, next time.

Smith Fund Report
We collected funds to help the Smiths and their transition back to the US soil from their mission work in Nicaragua during the past two weeks. This money will be put to good use providing much needed items for their new home here in Dayton. So far, we have collected over $2,100. You are awesome. Thanks to you from the Smiths.

Prayer Items:
Health

  • Booher’s grand nephew, Ben, continues to need our prayers. He is very week and is discouraged that the doctors are not helping him improve the way he wants. Pray for wisdom for everyone attending to his needs.
  • Steelman’s grandson, Donny W, was in the hospital and is diagnosed with Diabetes. He should have gone home today.
  • Dennis with his cold/chest infection
  • The Bucks have a couple of health issues – she is carrying twins and both have serious physical problems, also the Buck's father has been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease.
  • Jerry's grand-daughter, Kimberly, is having stomach problems.
  • Betty O – continue to pray for her as she undergoes her chemo treatments.
  • Burkard’s friend, Norm, will be part of a clinical trial for Prostate Cancer treatment. Unfortunately, he will not know if he is taking the medication being tested or the placebo. Pray that it will be a “good” treatment.
  • Our son-in-law’s mother, Josefina, is having very serious medical problems in The Dominican Republic. She is not a believer. Kristen’s husband, Hector, is with her at the hospital now.

Missions

  • Pray for our teens and the adults who accompany them as they leave next month for Mexico.
  • Several of the missionaries on the field with the Chambers are leaving on furlough leaving a critical need for workers.
  • Barb also mentioned that we need to continue in prayer for the missionaries who were here with us for our Missions Conference a few weeks ago. We often forget them after they leave. Remember to pray for these wonderful missionaries.
  • The Smiths – I debated a special category for him but put him here because of his recent knee surgery and the need to work on the other one, too. His first knee is doing well, notice NO Cane! He also got a good report from the doctors indicating that the second knee will only need a partial replacement and the recovery will be less painful. They will leave for Florida soon to pick up some things in storage. Pray for them as they travel.

Work

  • Dianne S’s son-in-law, Randy, did not get a job. He is discouraged and continues to need our prayers for wisdom and encouragement.
  • Danny W’s needs prayer for the sale of his business. He will also be laying off employees.
  • Dick H will be changing positions at Dayton Christian/Legacy. He will be a 5th grade teacher next year. He also shared with the evening service that he was able to lead a problem student to the Lord.

Miscellaneous

  • Karen D’s stepfather died.
  • Paul B’s daughter is planning to move here from Colorado. They are having some problems with the home purchase. Pray for them and for the Lord’s will in their lives.
  • Our building program and stewardship campaign. Pray for unity.
  • Ridgeville Christian School is closing and merging with Dayton Christian. As many as 85% of the students may transfer to DCS. Some of the staff will move but others will need work.

Praise

  • Don P had a biopsy report that he is Cancer Free.
  • New grand-daughter for the Simpsons (See above). She is doing well. Hallie and Sheila will visit them in Hawaii this week. Pray for opportunities for them to share the gospel.
