Ambassadors Notes for June 10, 2007

I'll highlight additions and changes in red that have been made since the email went out on Monday. Remember, this is a Blog and can easily be changed or updated. So, if you have changes or additions you would like here, let me know.

We had a good turnout today but not a record breaker. What a beautiful day for outdoor activities but even more beautiful in our House of the Lord!

Sunday we passed around a brochure and sign-up list for the Cool Films Series in the Victoria Theatre. In case you missed this, it is a great opportunity to do something fun with others in our ABF. We often use this as an excuse to go somewhere nice to eat (generally Uno’s) then go to a fun old movie classic. This year you can get a booklet of 10 tickets for the series for $24 (I think the cost is $3 for single tickets at the door). The series runs for nine weekends and will include 11 movies. These are movies from the late 1930s through the early 1970s. The first weekend is June 29 – July 1 and the last weekend is August 24 – 26. You can go by yourselves or join a group of other class members to fellowship. Follow this link to see what is playing and for additional information Victoria Theatre. (I noticed their website hasn’t been updated to show the new movies, yet. So, I created a Portable Document and included a link to it here Cool Films). Some asked about sharing booklets and that is certainly possible; however, I would also suggest that you can purchase tickets at the door in that case and check with others if you are interested in joining some for dinner before the movie. If you are interested and want Barb B to include you in her ticket order, please call her this week. She will be making the order before next Sunday. Also, everyone who has requested tickets, please give her the $24 by next Sunday.

Now for the important stuff:

Prayer list

Health

  • Jerry S will visit the doctor on Monday to discuss his Pancreas problem with a surgeon. His surgery is currently scheduled for the 19th. Pray for his health and also for wisdom for his surgeon.
  • Paul B’s son’s father-in-law (Earl) had a stroke. Pray for him.
  • Marilyn D asked for prayer for the Coughlin family.
  • Continue to pray for Kelie Lee who was seriously injured in a bicycle accident. We have this update (6/14/2007) from her family - God has been so great to our family and to Kelie and we are very thankful. Kelie's accident was 2 weeks ago last evening and she is now out of ICU trauma center and is in the Neuro Unit ready to be transferred to rehab either today or tomorrow. She is talking (in a whisper), walking down the hall (very slowly), eating, drinking by herself and doing great! Please pray for her rehab as she has a long way to go and she doesn't understand why she can't just go home. We thank God for her great progress and all of you for your prayers.
  • Kay B asked for prayer for her cousin (Ned) who has cancer of the Pancreas and Prostate.
  • Lindsay A is in the hospital (probably released Sunday) with chemotherapy treatments for cancer. She is not doing well with treatments and they will continue for 30 weeks.
  • Continue to pray for Betty O and her chemotherapy.

Deaths

  • Mike F asked for prayer for his mother’s family. Her sister (Mary Ann) died. He also asked for prayer for Terry, his mother died in a fire.
  • Robyn W asked for prayer for her sons (Jonathan and Joel). Their uncle died. Fortunately, this also brought the family together.

Salvation

  • Hallie asked for continue prayer for son Brian and for his wife Gladys and their new baby. They need to be involved in a good church. Gladys claims to have been saved in 1998.
  • John B asks for continued prayer for his neighbor George.

Church

  • Vacation Bible School is this week. Pray for a successful week and that children will be saved. Also Wednesday evening will be family night, so this is an opportunity to reach others in the families of these kids.
  • Continue to pray for our Lord’s leading in the building program. We will vote on the project on the 24th and (Lord willing) break ground on July 1st.

Missionaries

  • Larry and Nancy A will begin a short furlough this week, returning to Washington. They will be here in Dayton (passing through) later in the month. Pray for safety and refreshment.
  • Jeff and Kelsey E will also be returning to Colorado shortly. Maybe they will also visit Dayton.

Work

  • Continue to pray for Georgia as she seeks a new job.

Disclaimer: I had a difficult time reading my own notes as I typed this. Forgive me if I messed something up and please set me straight.

Class Bible Study

Dennis asked, “What were the four areas of early church struggles?”

  • Worldliness
  • Gossip
  • Catering to the rich
  • Hypocrisy

We opened our Bibles to James 1 and I Peter 1:7 to discuss Trials and Temptations:

  • Count it all joy
  • Know testing develops perseverance
  • Ask for Wisdom
  • We look forward to continuing this study in James.

Birthday

  • Joanne B – June 12 (Tuesday)

Anniversaries

  • Dan and Jane L will celebrate their anniversary on the 12th!
  • Here’s one I missed in the email. My fault, it really was correct in the database. Georgia and Byron are celebrating their anniversary today, June 11.
