Ambassadors ABF Notes for August 19, 2007

This week I have added some photos taken last Sunday at several of the activities. I also added another item in red that is new since the weekly email newsletter.

We had a very large attendance last Sunday. Don't stay away! We still have plenty of room and we will have more chairs for next week.

We welcomed back the Smiths from Nicaragua and Rosalinda to Cedarville University. Larry Smith gave a short report of their trip back to Nicaragua. It is great to have these back with us.

We also had Tony O give us a short commercial about the Global Focus Conference. Be sure to sign up for this program and join with us September 7, 8 and 9. We will not have our regular ABF on September 9th.

This week we also voted to give $500 to Dan W for his mission trip to Togo. He got all of his support today (to the penny) and will be leaving before the end of this month.

We also got a short report from Jane W about the program to provide encouragement and packages to our soldiers. These will include some literature which will be purchased by Jane. Our offering next Sunday will go to this.

Judy Ruegsegger suggested that we take on a young couple from our church who are currently serving in Home Missions with the Navigators. I will provide more information on this next Sunday and we can consider this.

Prayer Requests and Praises

  • Dan Miller did not find employment in the Dayton area and is back in the Cleveland area. Pray for him as he continues to look for employment.
  • Georgia has a job as a Substitute Teacher and will begin as soon as they need her.
  • Continue to Pray for Art and Jamie (Weiss’ daughter and son-in-law). Art got a job in Yuma.
  • Someone will make an offer on Dan W’s business this week. Pray that this will be a good offer and everything will go well.
  • Mike K's father died. As far as we know, he never received Christ. The visitation was Tuesday and Memorial Service was Wednesday in Huron, OH.
  • Sandy reported that her sister is much better and it appears that the kidney stone is gone.
  • Sandy's brother-in-law is also doing well.
  • Diana W asked us to pray for her friend Carol.
  • Roger B also asked us to pray for the health of his elderly aunt.
  • Pray for the students returning to schools and universities this week. This can be difficult for students changing schools or moving to new areas. We have several family members in this category.
  • Pray for Byron’s salvation. There are some encouraging signs.
  • Continue to pray for Tracy, the young lady in prison who Hallie witnessed to. She still needs prayer and encouragement. She responded very well to Hallie. It would be nice if many can send her notes of encouragement. Her address was provided in the email newsletter. Send me an email if you need the mailing addresss.
  • Bible Study

Dennis continued our study in James. This week we discussed James 1:19-21

    We are to:

    • be swift to hear
    • be slow to speak
    • be slow to wrath
    • put away all evil
    • receive the Word with meekness
    Birthdays
    • Barb D - Aug. 20
    • David D - Aug. 21
    Anniversary
    • Jim and Jane - Aug. 23 (45 years)
    • Larry and Bev - Aug. 23 (49 years)
    Morning Celebration Service

Pastor Kisner is continuing his mini-series on verses that spoke to his heart. This week he used II Peter 3:1-15. The sermon focused on why God has taken so long to fulfill his promise to return soon (verse 4). Then the question is answered in verse 9; "The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance."

    Picnic with Pastor McGhee

Following the morning service we all gathered in the McGhee’s home. We had people everywhere. The food and fellowship were both fantastic.

    Evening Service

Sunday evening was another evening of missionary emphasis! Our church voted to provide financial support for Dr Drullinger as he prepares to go to the mission field in South Africa next summer. We will be providing a total of 25% of his support. We also voted to increase support for the Amundsons. It was also good to see Joy Spieth (Brazil) in the service.

Dr Drullinger is continuing his series "Life from the Inside-Out" from II Cor. 12:1-10.

    Ministry Fair

After the evening service we moved to the Fellowship Hall to see the Ministry Programs our church has to offer. Some of these are designed to edify our people but many will also benefit others outside our church. It was good to see some of our members representing these ministries. We all are encouraged to get involved.

This event was a nice finishing touch on a very full day for us.

    Dates to Remember
    • September 2 - Celebration in the Park (no ABFs)
    • September 7, 8, and 9 Global Focus Conference (no ABFs)

NOTE: Since we will not be meeting for the first two Sundays in September, please keep us (Sandy or I) informed of items for our class. These can be prayer requests or announcements, etc. We will pass these on via Email and this Blog.
