Ambassadors Notes for Sunday, August 5th

This was another busy day in our ABF. We had a report from the Deacons, our regular announcement time, prayer time and a short Bible Study time with John Burkard. Next Sunday we will have a special guest by the name of Dennis Sullivan! J

Prayer Items

  • Betty started a new treatment for cancer on Friday. Pray for her and the effectiveness of this therapy.
  • Lindsay will begin three days of in hospital treatment starting Monday. Visit her Blog at Caring Bridge. Some really neat stuff is going on for her. So, go and see what it is.
  • Continue to pray for Sharon the owner of the company where Meg works. She had pancreatic surgery for cancer on August 2. The report from the surgeon is very positive.
  • Fred T is in the nursing home and Esther is also having problems. Pray for each of these.
  • Colin and Mercedes H (Colin is Jane L’s father) are having physical problems. Contact Pastor Bowser if you can help with meals.
  • Louise S. passed away on Friday. Pray for her husband Paul.
  • Sandy’s brother-in-law is improving rapidly. Sandy thanks everyone for their prayers.
  • Rosalinda asked us to pray for her father, Evan. The doctors put him on Coumadin but he started bleeding internally. He says he feels fine.
  • Continue to pray for the pastor in Vietnam. Praise the Lord for a good report so far.
  • Pray for Roy Shelpman our missionary to Haiti. He had an angioplasty and installation of a stent. He was released to go home in Florida on Saturday and plans to return to Haiti with Ruthie August 23rd. Pray that this will be possible.
  • Pray for Larry and Nancy A as they visit their supporting churches during their furlough. They are traveling to New York right now.
  • Judy and her son, Steve, have safely arrived back from the Middle East. Another answer to prayer!
  • Dan M is still looking for work and reported that he has some leads. Pray for the Lord’s leading.
  • Georgia shared good news about the outcome of her unemployment hearing.
Visitors

Today we were privileged to have two visitors:
  • Marion Nims-Steele (Dave Nims sister)
  • Bob Trout – Bogota, Columbia with ABWE

Children with Cancer

Last week Sally asked our ABF to consider helping with a project with Legacy Ministries. Two of the students (including Lindsay) are currently being treated for cancer. We took a special offering today and raised $160 for this cause. Other ABFs and individuals are also helping.

Bible Software for DCS

Dick Hockenberry asked for a special Bible software application for his 5th grade class. Our class agreed to fund this for $100.

Birthdays
  • Sandy Entner – August 7
  • Pauline Fadeyi – August 8
  • Grace Hockenberry – August 8
  • Jim Weiss – August 9
  • Dale Leonard – August 11
  • Jane Ludington – August 11
Bible Study Time

Once again, we failed to provide much time for John’s teaching session. John, I promise this is not intentional! However, he used it very well to challenge us to make a list of people near us (neighbors and relatives) who we will pray for and work to lead to the Lord. Share your names with us and let’s pray together for the salvation of these individuals. I haven’t decided how we will share this but we will not put it on the Blog.

Dates to Remember
  • August 19 – Picnic at the McGhee’s (remember your goodies!)
  • September 2 – Celebration in the Park (no ABFs)
  • September 7-9 – Global Focus Seminar
  • Barb sent a list around to see when you would be interested in touring the Creation Museum as a group. We need to decide on a date and lock this in. We will send the list around again (if we can find it).
Celebration Service

Pastor Kisner continued his series of scripture passages that are special to him. This week he spoke from Luke 4:43-45. “Out of the Abundance of My Heart My Life is Lived!” Basically, this means that if we import evil into our hearts, we will live evil lives. Conversely, if we immerse our hearts in what is good, our lives will reflect this. If you missed it, you can hear it on the
WHBC website.

Evening Service

We had a wonderful Missionary Commissioning Service for the Amundsons. It was a great time of music and talks from Pastor Kisner and Bob Trout followed by the pastors, board and missionary committee praying for them. You can hear this program
here.
