Ambassadors Notes for Sunday, July 29th
It was great to hear the report from our classmates about the results of the prison ministry and hear of the salvation of so many inmates. We need to pray for these men and women.
Prayer Items
- Betty did not get a good report from the results of her PET scan last week. Pray for wisdom as they determine the next course of action. Pray for strength and healing for Betty.
- Continue to pray for Sharon the owner of the company where Meg works. She had pancreatic surgery for cancer on August 2. Sharon is a Christian.
- Continue to pray for Lindsay as she undergoes treatment for cancer.
- Fred T is back in the nursing home and Esther also had a back problem because of trying to lift him when he fell. Pray for each of these.
- Missionary David Spradling will have surgery for a perforated intestine sometime this month. He is our missionary to the Jewish people in the Cincinnati area.
- We also received the following updated message from Sandy concerning her sister and brother-in-law: Brother-in-law, Burt, is recovering but still unable to get off of the external pace-maker. We are praying he won't have to have an internal pace-maker. Sister, Rita, is home from the hospital but still has a long way to go. She still has a kidney stone which they don't plan to deal with until they are sure she is over the infection. We've been at the hospital many hours each day but were able to come home tonight about 9 so hope to get a better nights sleep. Please pray for Sandy and both of these.
- Hallie led a couple of young ladies to the Lord and asks us to pray for each of them as they prepare for release shortly and will be influenced by old friends and family on the outside. Pray for spiritual strength for these ladies.
- Continue to pray for the pastors in Vietnam. Praise the Lord for a good report so far.
- Pray for Judy and son the Middle East.
- Dan Miller is still looking for work after being laid off from his job. Pray for the Lord’s leading.
- I believe Georgia is also still looking for a job.
AWANA Needs
Don Wolfe spoke in our ABF to appeal for workers with the AWANA kids on Wednesday evenings. I believe four of our members did respond to this need. This is a fantastic opportunity for outreach.
Children with Cancer
Sally Rhoden asked our ABF to consider helping with a project with Legacy Ministries. Two of the students (including Lindsay) are currently being treated for cancer. We decided to take a special offering next Sunday for this cause. Be Prepared!
Sound System
How did everyone like using the sound system this Sunday in our classroom? I really liked it. The only thing worse than my hearing is my memory! This is a spare system from the church and was set up by Bob Lawson. Thanks for your efforts, Bob.
Birthday
- Bud O – August 1st
Bible Study Time
It was interesting to hear that there was some kind of miscommunication with our substitute teacher of the day. John asked Barb who was teaching and she informed him that last weeks notes said he is teaching! So, he continued his discussion from last week. However, by the time he had the microphone, there was only 10 minutes left. He discussed some interesting items from John Rosenberg’s book “Epicenter” (It is in our library but you may need to reserve it). Then he commented that we need:
- An Exit Strategy
- A Neighborhood Strategy
- A Global Strategy - Plan to participate in our three day Global Focus Seminar, September 7-9th. Put these dates in your calendars and plan to participate.
Dates to Remember
- August 19 – Picnic at the McGhee’s
- September 2 – Celebration in the Park (no ABFs)
- September 7-9 – Global Focus Seminar
Celebration Service
Pastor Kisner continued his series of scripture passages that are special to him. This week he spoke on Romans 12 and particularly verse 19. “Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord”. If you missed it, you can hear it on the WHBC website.
Evening Service
We had a great report from the men and women who participated in the Bill Blass prison ministry. Also the little kids sang several songs. But, it was especially good to have Dr. Drullinger back in the pulpit! He spoke on II Cor. 12. You can also hear this message here.
