Ambassadors Notes for week of Sept. 9

It is always fun to see familys together at the Celebration but it is fun to catch them with a mouth full of food, too!

Once again, we did not have any formal class-time this week. However, I noted that a good number of our members participated in the Global Focus seminars that started Friday evening with our barbeque dinner. The seminar sessions are available at the church website. If you missed some of the sessions and want to hear them, this is a good way to do it.
Remember to look below and see if you can figure out who our Guess Who is for the past week. As promised, this is a tough one for you. So far, no one has guessed who it is. One person came to me with a guess Friday evening. Her answer was wrong. I then told her, she wouldn’t even figure it out if the person was standing there in front of her. She was, and she didn’t! Eventually, the light did go on, because I was POINTING! J I will give a hint; she has only been married a couple of years to her current husband who was a lawyer. I will put up another Guess Who to challenge your cognitive processes on Wednesday or Thursday. This one should be even more difficult than this current one.
Prayer Items
- Remember to continue to pray for Lindsay. She was admitted to the hospital on Monday and will had CT scan and an Echocardiogram. The CT Scan showed something new on her lung. They still do not know what this means but as you might expect, they are concerned. You can follow her progress at her Caring Bridge Blog.
- I received a nice email message from Dan W this week. He is in Togo, Africa doing an engineering survey for ABWE. So far everything is going well. His email message is included below. Continue to pray for him.
- Pray for those who made decisions during the Global Focus seminar this week.
- Continue to pray for David Spradling as he recovers from his surgery last week.
- Kay B reminds us that her nephew, Ben, is still having physical problems. I will see a new doctor this week and will have lots of new tests. Pray for Ben.
- Many of you know John and Sandy’s sister-in-law, Ruth. She lost her mother last week. Pray for her comfort.
- Dan W is still facing issues with the sale of his business. Pray that this will happen without further delay.
- Some of our class members are traveling and will be traveling. Pray for our safety.
- Rudy S – Sept. 9
- Don J – Sept. 13
- Diana W – Sept. 16
- Barb S – Sept. 16
Message from Dan W
Greetings,
I found out when I got here that they now have some kind of hybrid connection rather than straight dial-up. Because of this I can send you some photos of my trip up till today. The photo of the children is typical wherever we go. They just come running up to the van and start making silly faces as soon as they see you pull out a camera.

The one shot down a dirt road is the US equivalent of a divided highway here in Togo. We traveled for an hour down this road to a remote (At least I thought it was remote) village where ABWE has a church. They want to build a new school building that would house their growing church run school. The parents are willing to pay a years tuition of $30 rather than the $2 that would be public school. For that their child gets to share a bench in the classroom like the other image attached.
The other "county" road is a path that myself and two other interns here hiked today to get to a remote waterfall. We crossed paths with numerous women and men in their finest clothing walking down this path as they transported their wares to market. They had to wade through mud and streams with all their stuff on their heads of course.
Please extend my thanks to the class and let them know that our time spent here has been very productive. They are adding projects like this new school building left and right all over Togo. We spent last week in the northern half looking over land for this new hospital. There has been widespread flooding because of the long rainy season. More than most people have seen in 45 years. This was the Lords divine providence in that we could see that the land ABWE wants to put the hospital on is wet during this type of weather. Normally, in the dryer months this would not have been as evident. So we are thankful that the Lord has shown us this matter so we can negotiate the extra costs into the purchase price.
Thanks again,
Dan W
Next Week
You will be happy to hear that we will have our normal schedule again and Dennis will be teaching. Several of our members will be traveling, including John and me. So, your normal class leaders will not be there. Please be gentle with the substitute, as he leads. I’m not sure how or if we will have an update next week. However, if you have something you want to get out, please send an email to me. I can get something out when we return.
