Ambassadors Class Notes for week of October 28

It was great to see so many in our class again on Sunday. There were over 50 of us in attendance. If you missed this opportunity to meet with us, you missed a real blessing.

Prayer Items:

  • Some of this is changing daily so be sure to check your email and the Ambassadors Blog for updates.
  • Chuck is in Miami Valley Hospital after surgery to remove his gall bladder. Pray for both Chuck and Charlene.
  • Ann is also in Miami Valley Hospital with an infection. They think this is in her colon. Pray for Ann and Paul.
  • Grace had surgery on Wednesday. She is home now. Pray for her and also Mark.
  • Continue to pray for Betty as she continues chemo therapy.
  • Tony will have a heart cath. on Friday so pray for both of them.
  • We are also reminded to pray urgently for our country and our leadership.
  • Pray for two of our ladies with job related requests.
  • Our church will begin construction soon for the next phase of our new facilities. Pray for wisdom of the staff and board during this process as well as unity of the church body.

Class Study/Discussion:

Sunday Dennis gave us a fictional Case Study as presented to the students in his class at Cedarville. This one concerned Abortion Ethics and Evangelism. His study evolved around Maria and her issues. We had some great discussion. This will be continued next week. I am anxious to see how this concludes and also see the posters that Dennis’ students made. I will post one image in the blog later this week.

Class Activities:

November 3 – 8:30 AM we will meet in the church parking lot and car pool down to the Creation Museum. After the museum the majority of us will enjoy some refreshments at the Grand Finale in Cincinnati. If you have not signed up for this event, just show up. The costs are around $13 per ticket discounted for our group.

November 10 – Samaritan Purse Shoe Box packing and breakfast. Remember to bring the items you signed up for as well as the breakfast items. We will have another opportunity for signup next Sunday.

December 8 @ 6PM our Annual Christmas Party and White Elephant gift exchange. This is always a really fun activity for out class. We will meet at Deer Run again this year.

Projects:

In addition to our Samaritan Purse Project and the brochures for our men and women in the service, we have a few new opportunities to discuss. I would like to suggest that we vote on each of these next Sunday, November 4. We should decide “yes” or “no” and how much. We do have enough to support all or most of these:

  1. Mission Trip to Ireland with Baptist Bible College for Seth Hague
  2. Support for Jenni (Hoppe) and Trevor Holder – Campus Crusade
  3. WHBC Mission Trip to South Africa
  4. Adopt a Family with the Miami Valley Women’s Center. Last year we adopted a young lady and her two children and provided gifts for each of them.

Birthdays:

Maxine Hague – 10/30

Personal Profiles:

Perhaps this is early to announce but I have recently been thinking of doing something to help our members get to know each other more personally. Many of our members aren’t able to attend class on a regular basis because they are serving in other areas of the SS and Church. I envision this as a short biography of the newest members but it could also evolve into short stories of interest about any member. There are things about each of us that are interesting but not known to others. If you have ideas or names of members you would like to know more about, let me know. This will be exclusive to the email newsletter.

Guess Who:

So far, this has been a good one. No one has really guessed it without prompting. Since I do not have another one to post, I will leave this one be and see how many of you can get it. One hint – it is NOT a girl.

Sunday Morning Services:

I am really enjoying this new sermon series. Pastor Kisner is preaching on the E-Verbs (Eternity). This week he discussed “Imputed (credited) as Righteousness” and used scripture from Romans Chapter 4. The word “Credited” was used multiple times in this text. You can hear this sermon HERE.

Sunday Evening Service:

It was great to have Dr Drullinger here with us again. I think he will be away speaking on his mission deputation tour most of November. He has also begun a new series titled “Footprints of the Faithful”. This is also a superb new series. This week his “Faithful” was Barnabas. Remember Barnabas is only his nickname. Do your recall his real name? When Dr D asked who was a person in the Bible who served without wanting credit, one of our members had the answer but was not heard. Eventually, Barb did get “The Credit” for her correct answer! The text for this sermon is Acts 4. You can also find this sermon at the link above.
