Ambassadors Update for the Week of November 11, 2007
Of course, Saturday was also a great day. We had good fellowship at breakfast and doing the Samaritan Purse Shoe Boxes. I think we did almost 30 boxes with fun things for the kids around the world. Our breakfast was prepared by the best cooks in the world (me excluded).
Prayer Items:
- Pray for the contacts of the prison ministry. Rudy did not have any of the numbers or results. Those are not important for us to know, anyway. But he said there were professions of faith and many good contacts made for the Lord. Pray for these people.
- Chris R is changing command in the Navy. Sally will have time to be with the family and wants an opportunity to be a witness to them and the grandchildren.
- Paul had some good interaction with his grandson at the game Saturday. Pray for Caleb.
- Ann B is improving and Paul thinks she may even be home next week.
- Mila is the daughter of a former DCS student. She is only a few months old and has leukemia. Pray for this little one and her family.
- Dan G was in the hospital last week for chemo. Pray for the effectiveness of this treatment.
- John E is having problems with his ears and hearing. They are planning on doing some air travel this weekend and would want this cleared before traveling. I saw him last night and he is improving.
- Robin lost her job and needs to find something else. Pray for the Lord’s leading for something appropriate.
- Dan Miller also asks for continued prayer as he seeks employment in the Cleveland/Akron area.
- The Entners asked for prayer for the Bengalis. There is a very big storm approaching. Pray for the Nationals and our missionaries. The last big storm caused damage for the Allens but they are home in PA right now.
- Chuck C is recovering from his surgery well enough to be out again. However he had a scare this week. We asked for prayer and your prayers were answered. The report is that it is not Liver Cancer but there are problems that must be addressed by lifestyle changes. Continue to pray for Chuck and Char.

Class Discussion:
We continued our discussion about Maria and her boyfriend. She is pregnant and needs help. One obvious choice is abortion. How do we (volunteers at a local crisis pregnancy center) help her and meet her needs; pregnancy, illegal alien status, spiritual?
This week we concentrated on her spiritual needs and how to help her with the pregnancy. Dennis mentioned the example of the Westwood Baptist Church and how they have been activists concerning the war in Iraq. This is a very extreme example of why we must be careful of how we handle this because of the perception of the world about Christians and Hate Crimes/Speech. This group lost a legal battle and was ordered to pay damages. They are now facing additional Child Abuse because of the way they are teaching their children. This could spill over to our teaching also concerning tolerance, etc. That is not really the point of our discussion but rather how we treat Maria and her boyfriend to win them to our Lord. We are to hope and pray for their salvation. Someone mentioned the purpose of meeting their need is so they can put their problems aside long enough to listen to the Gospel. Dennis gave an example of how they treat these abortion minded women at the Women’s Center. They tell the girls that they are there for them no matter what they decide about the abortion (and they mean it). Obviously, they counsel the couple of the consequences of abortion but make it clear that they want to have opportunities to talk with them more about their spiritual conditions regardless of their decision.
Next week we will change directions and get into the Word to study more about Evangelism (how to witness). Don’t miss next week!

Sunday AM Celebration Services:
We had a good musical presentation by the choir and another good message from Pastor Kisner, continuing his series of E-Verbs. He spoke from Romans 5 about being reconciled. You can hear this message on the WHBC website HERE. The choir music is HERE.
On a sad note, Pastor Bowser gave his notice of plans for “real” retirement in December. He was a faithful and vital part of our ministry to the Young at Heart for 10 years. We will miss him but also wish him well as he wishes to spend more time with grandkids, etc.
Sunday PM Service:
4 by Grace from Cedarville University gave a very nice gospel quartet concert. If you missed this one you missed a real blessing. Fortunately, it is available on the WHBC website HERE.
Randy Tate spoke from 1 John 2:12-14 on the stages of spiritual life. You can hear his sermon HERE.
Your class presidents will be away the next two Sundays. Dave D and Kermit P will fill in as your VPs during our absence.
