Ambassadors Notes for the week of Dec. 9

This past weekend was a great one. We all had a good time of fun and fellowship together Saturday evening as we gathered for our annual Christmas celebration. The food was way to plentiful and good! I know I am not the only one to over-eat!

I think it was John who is the new owner of the golden goose! But this wasn’t the only weird gift to be won. Ask Rosalinda about her jeans!

These photos were provided by Bob Lawson. Thank you Bob! Can you believe, I didn’t even bring a camera?

Many thanks to Mark Averitt also; for arranging for the Community Center for our use. It was perfect for our needs.

Sunday was also another good time together as a class. John and Sandy gave us a “Long and Short of it” showing of their trip to Israel. I thought their presentation was fascinating and well worthwhile.

I will never forget Sandy’s description of the Hasidic men leaving the Wailing Wall and immediately taking out their cell phones. I don’t mean this was wrong in any way but it seemed to be a real contrast.

After our class we had a great morning celebration time. Pastor Kisner preached on Romans 6:23. Hopefully, everyone can quote this verse by memory. I believe this is one of the first verses I had ever memorized as a child. Sarah Britton also provided an excellent flute solo accompanied by her dad on the piano who also did the arrangement. You can hear the morning sermon and this music at the WHBC Website HERE.

Sunday evening we had communion and also honored several of our staff members for their service to our church. Each of these had major milestones in their service. Linda Thomas (Ambassador Class Member) is retiring and was also honored for many years of service. Dr. David Drullinger was honored for his 15 years of service. He is also leaving next year as he begins his missionary service in South Africa. Charlie Pagnard was also honored for his 15 years of service. Sherm Bowser was honored for his 10 years of service. He is also retiring effective this month. We are truly blessed to have such servants.
