Ambassadors Notes and Photos for week of Nov. 4th

Prayer Items:

  • Carol N’s father passed away on Saturday (funeral was today). I was blessed hearing Carol praise the Lord for this, knowing that her father is in heaven right now. Pray for the family at this time.
  • Continue to pray for Chuck C. He was in the hospital longer than anticipated but is home now.
  • Continue to pray for Betty O.
  • Ann B is back in Bethany for her therapy. Pray for continued healing and strength.
  • Dan G’s cancer is growing again. He is home now but may be having a bone marrow transplant. Pray for wisdom on what to do next.
  • Don J fell from a ladder last week and hurt his back. Pray for Don and Ruth.
  • Sheila S is doing better. Pray for continued improvement and that this will not reoccur.
  • Pray for our men in the military particularly those in harm’s way.
  • Carol P is in Mongolia again as part of a ministry program. Pray for the team as they minister to the people over there.

Class Discussion:

We continued our discussion about Dennis’ make-believe client to the women’s center. This young lady came to the center looking for abortion information. Both she and her boyfriend are illegal aliens and fear being deported. How should the medical people at the center minister to their needs and counsel Maria and her boyfriend?

Prioritize – Save baby, help mom, salvation, and legal issues. This became a very vigorous discussion around the young ladies’ spiritual needs versus legal issues. Should we attend to the spiritual and physical needs first or report their illegal status to the authorities? You will have to return next week to see where this goes. Does Maria choose life for her baby and become a born again Christian, or do the authorities deport her and her boyfriend (if they can find them). Actually, this will not be discussed because this is a hypothetical case, but what would you recommend?

Projects:

This is the time of year for outreach projects and support. We voted on several projects.
  • WHBC South Africa Mission Team – David T, Roger B, and David & Karen D from our class are part of this team. We voted to provide $1,000 for this. This will provide $250 for each of our class members on the team.
  • Seth Hague is going to Ireland as part of a mission team from Baptist Bible College. We voted to provide $300 for Seth.
  • Adopt a Family with Miami Valley Women’s Center – provide Christmas Gifts for a mom and up to three children. This will cost between $110 and $210 and was approved. They have more mom’s requesting help than help; if you are interested in adopting a young family contact the MVWC.
  • Remember – all of these projects will also accept personal donations and your prayer support.

Activities:
  • Saturday at 9 AM (the bulletin is wrong but you can come earlier to help set up if you wish) we will meet in the Fellowship Hall for breakfast and to pack and wrap our Samaritan Purse Shoe Boxes. Remember to bring your food and box items and a check made out to Samaritan Purse for $7 for each box you bring.
  • Saturday, December 8th we will have our Annual White Elephant and Potluck Christmas Party. Start thinking about what you will bring now (or what you will bring home – Quack!). We will be meeting in the community room at Deer Run.

Birthdays:
  • Rosalinda – November 4th
  • Fola – November 6th
  • David N – November 6th

Visitors:

It is always special to have old friends return and new ones come to our ABF. Today we welcomed two couples:

  • Pastor Larry Fetzer and Marion (our former pastor for 21 years)
  • Don and Ruth Windham (Lakeland, FL – Friends of the Smiths)

Guess Who #12

Only my wife eventually guessed the last person we featured on the Blog (actually someone else claims to have guessed but didn’t tell me; Barb B!). It was Bob Lawson. If you missed it, check it out quickly before Bob makes me remove it.

Now, we’ve added another one for you to check out in the next item down.

Sunday AM Celebration Services:

Pastor Kisner continued his series on the “E” Verbs. Today he preached from Romans 4:20-25 and chapter 5. The verb is “to be justified”. He discussed what it means to be justified. You can hear the sermons and music on the WHBC website.

Sunday PM Service:

Randy Tate is stepping in as a “preaching partner” while Dr. Drullinger is traveling on deputation prior to his new ministry in South Africa. Tonight he spoke from 1 John 2:1-6. He showed us how Jesus is our defender (advocate) and our atoning sacrifice. We who claim to live in Him just “Walk as Jesus did”.

Creation Museum

Last Saturday we visited the Creation Museum then had a late lunch (early dinner) at the Grand Finale. For at least one person (Clara) the “finale” was too much. She was not well for several days.

I have a few photos below. These were taken by Lynn P and myself.

Somehow, I figured Jerry had something to do with the Creation!

We were in on the building of the Ark, too!

There was plenty to see and do at the Creation Museum. Everyone enjoyed the time together.

Did someone say something about eating! We all enjoyed the time of sharing and fellowship at the Grand Finale. As you can see this is before Clara had her "finale"; she is smiling!
